More than likely, you joined my mailing list after taking my quiz: “Is your personality contributing to your chronic fatigue?”
Maybe you then watched the masterclass, or maybe you didn’t — but there’s a good chance you were hoping for clarity or hoping for a simple fix?
There’s no judgement here I promise. When you’re exhausted and overwhelmed, you want anything that will rescue you quickly — a supplement, a checklist, an easy lifestyle shift.
That’s exactly what I wanted too.
But what I eventually learned (and what I see again and again in clients) is that chronic fatigue isn’t caused by one simple thing and it isn’t healed by one simple thing either. It’s the result of years of living with a particular pattern and nervous system response.
There is good news though! A solution does exist. And it begins with understanding your nervous system.
To simplify it – our bodies and minds are intricately connected. When the brain perceives a threat the body experiences hormonal and biochemical changes (happening via the nervous system) When this happens occasionally, we can handle it but when it happens most of the day almost every day, that’s when symptoms show up: chronic fatigue, dizziness, low stress tolerance, brain fog, weight shifts… the list goes on.
Why does this happen so chronically? There are two main reasons (which often feed each other):
1) A sensitive or neurodivergent nervous system that is easily activated
2) Early experiences that made you feel unsafe being fully yourself, leading to a
dysregulated nervous system template along with unconscious coping mechanisms like perfectionism, people pleasing, over-achieving, and chronic masking
Even if you do understand all the above perhaps I lost you when I started talking about masculine and feminine energy in my earlier emails?
These are simply the necessary polarities of life—like light and dark – and you need both. But when you’re chronically stressed, you may unconsciously gravitate toward masculine energy (the doing, the fixing, the pushing). The reason you’re likely to do this is because society rewards it, it’s deeply intertwined with our perceived worth, and because feminine energy (being in the body, allowing emotions, hearing our inner truth) feels vulnerable and unsafe.
Here’s the bind you may find yourself in: it’s not sustainable to live constantly in doing energy. But because that doing is driven by a dysregulated nervous system and a primal need for safety and control, you keep doing it, even as it causes you to crash. Most people respond to the crash with more doing (even fixing is a masculine energy response, not a healing one).
You can either keep doing what you’ve been doing and keep crashing … OR… you can learn the tools to balance the doing and the being for better regulation and health. It’s only when we learn to identify the nervous system dysregulation that drives the masculine doing that we can intentionally bring in the feminine energy to regulate, heal, and restore vitality.
