| Between 2012 and 2016, I was often trapped on the couch, utterly depleted and flat. This was a stark contrast to my previous life of crushing cycle races, dominating the squash court, and running with dedication. I was also partying hard, building my own practice from the ground up- trying to do it all perfectly and control every aspect of my life. Yesterday, I completed a 10km race with a friend – which did include some walking and deep conversation! In 2023, I also conquered a 4-day hike, happily bringing up the rear each day, consciously savouring the breath-taking scenery and engaging in profoundly insightful conversations with my sister and friend. So, where am I going with this? It’s all about finding balance. My past self was driven by an insatiable need to be the best, to push relentlessly, and to achieve at all costs – that was the only script I knew, and I’d dangerously intertwined my worth, my security, and my very identity with it. Then I burnt out. Again and again. Until I was forced to stop. Now? The intense pressure to be the best has vanished. My aspirations are now simple, pleasurable, and, for the most part, balanced. This shift in how I source safety and worth — and in how my nervous system operates — has changed my health and my life. I haven’t given up; I’ve simply redefined what “enough” looks like. While I could train for a half-marathon, the desire simply isn’t there anymore. Today marks the Equinox. At precisely 8:19 pm SAST/UTC +2, we reach a unique still point, a sacred pause, where day and night exist in perfect equilibrium. From there, the light shifts: longer days in the Southern Hemisphere, longer nights in the North. Night embodies the feminine energy – the yin of our balance – while day represents the masculine energy, the yang. We desperately need both. Yet, our society relentlessly glorifies masculine qualities: achievement, productivity, constant action, and an unending drive. It’s the need to know, to understand, to meticulously plan every detail, and to maintain absolute control. Conversely, feminine qualities – surrendering to the unknown, trusting intuition, embracing emotions, nurturing sensuality and sexuality, and the profound power of rest and surrender – are often undervalued, even feared. We are navigating unprecedented levels of burnout and widespread health crises, largely because we are hooked into the dominant, masculine narrative. Yet, at the same time, a profound shift is unfolding in our collective consciousness – a powerful call to return to balance. Consider the enforced pause and stillness brought by COVID-19; a powerful reminder of what we’ve lost. And this awakening is spreading. More and more individuals are reconnecting, especially as chronic health challenges compel them to radically re-evaluate the equilibrium in their lives. This Equinox, will you embrace the opportunity to pause and deeply examine your own life? -How much of the feminine energy is truly present in your world? -What is your relationship with your body, your emotions, your creativity, your capacity for surrender, and simply being? -What are your fears around pausing/being still? In the next 24 hours, can you consciously pause and drop into your body? Notice if there is stillness or agitation within your nervous system. Then, imagine sinking into the earth, allowing yourself to be held, replenished, and rejuvenated. Or, at the very least, simply ground yourself, opening to receive the profound replenishment the earth offers through life force energy. Have you tried to find balance but just can’t maintain it? Take my 5 minute quiz to understand the link between this dominant masculine energy, personality characteristics, nervous system balance and chronic fatigue. |

A Deeply Unacknowledged Cause of Burnout
Today in South Africa we remember a very important event and in this reel I created I share why this is relevant to a deeply unacknowledged cause of chronic fatigue and burnout. In the reel I share why this foundation is so important to overcome chronic fatigue and burnout. I explain how it is experienced on 3
